2024 – Digital 4K (Video Installation ; Video Mapping) / Wild Access
Description
In a forest glade, sunlight dances across leaves and grass, revealing a complex scene shared by diverse beings. The trees, with their sensors, record the subtle variations of light, sound, and climate that animate the earth. As hybrid forms emerge within this dynamic ecosystem, visitors are invited to embark on a sensory journey beyond the human perspective—an experience of the interweaving of all living beings and their habitat.
Statement
In his film Glade, visual artist Vincent Jondeau questions the supposed centrality of humans and mammals on earth, and suggests we adopt the point of view and sensibility of a leaf bathed in sunlight. It is from the central position of the plant and its sensors that the peripheral presence of the other beings that inhabit the earth is captured. Through moving photography and sound composition, this project also aims to shift the boundaries between artistic media. The film was indeed developed in collaboration with the interdisciplinary Performance-Company WILD ACCESS in a site-specific practice project, which combines dance, light, sound, music, text and video. Their starting point is a » glade » in a forest. From this grassy space that opens up between the trees, they create an immersive terrain populated by hybrid creatures and multiple, intertwined perspectives.
