Poièsis follows a group of artists gathered for a residency in the south of France. Drawing, sculpture, music and documentary filmmaking coexist without merging into a single practice. Rather than focusing on finished works, the film accompanies the time of their making, whether individual or collective, through moments of hesitation, repeated gestures, conversations, experiments and dead ends.

As the days unfold, artistic creation emerges as a form of everyday labour shaped as much by care as by constraint. The artists engage with their materials, their tools and the spaces they inhabit, while also navigating the conditions that make their practice possible. The limited duration of the residency, the presence of patrons and the expectations surrounding artistic production shape their working process as much as their aesthetic choices.

A polyphony of voices drawn from intimate conversations with the artists runs through the film as a sonic material accompanying the gestures of creation, allowing the viewer to be affected by each artist’s singular presence.
